I choose to write about the social problems that impact the woman and children in family violence, I chose this topic because I wanted to know why do women continue to stay in a domestic abuse situation. Domestic violence can be defined as a planned pattern of power and control carried out by your partner, it includes sexual violence, physical violence, emotional violence and psychological violence (UNICEF,2017). According to our textbook one spouse out of every six experiences domestic violence, and one kills a spouse because of domestic violence â€Å"six tines out of seven the woman is the victim† ,no other crime comes close to this (Henslin 370). How is one persuaded to belief in God? Social influences certainly play a role in accepting or rejecting Christianity. Many people raised in a Christian environment receive positive classical conditioning, operant conditioning, and observational learning. However, numerous individuals do not grow up in a positive Christian environment or have had negative experiences related to Christianity. How are they persuaded to belief in God? Rick Wade (1998) in his article â€Å"The Relevance of Christianity: An Apologetic,† offers one dimension to persuading non-Christians to believe. Wade’s perspective, however, had little relevance to my own conversion. I was not raised in a Christian environment and did not become a Christian until age 20 or so. Therefore, I cannot say that the four sources mentioned Kenrick, Neuberg, Cialdini (2015) mention, classical conditioning, operant conditioning, observational learning, and heredity (p. 141) played a large role in my belief in Christianity. Answer: Introduction Marketing may fall into two categories which include product marketing and service marketing. Many marketers seem to put emphasis on the product marketing than service marketing. However, Nel, et al. (2011) argue that service marketing is very crucial, and thus it should be given attention the same as product marketing. Bearing in mind that marketing service entails dealing with the intangible products it becomes crucial to be extremely considered as a vital task. Service marketing is the primary differentiator of the homogeneity of the many services in the market. Alternatively, service marketing helps in establishing and maintaining the relationship between the organization and the company. This is because the product offered to the customers is intangible hence requiring a robust relationship between the customer and the seller. Again, service marketing is critical for customer retention. Eliashberg, Hennig-Thurau, Weinberg, Wierenga (2016) argued that the stiff competition in th e modern business world challenge the marketers not only to attract new customers but also to retain the existing the ones. In support Furrer, Alexandre, Sudharshan (2007) acknowledged that maintaining the current customers is more vital than attracting the new pool of customers. Bearing in mind that majority of the fresh graduates lack experience, it makes it crucial to take them through an internship process(Ross, 2012). As a new intern in marketing, I have learned that marketing internship is very critical in supporting the company activities associated with ascertaining company products demand in the market. Again, marketing also entails changing the customers purchasing power into the effective demand for the company services as well as ensuring service delivery to the customers(Wilson, 2012). Alternatively, I have been able to learn that marketing internships provide the learner with broad experience in corporate marketing, viral, non-tradition and internet marketing. A marketing intern cannot engage in some of the duties commonly executed by the experienced marketers (Ross, 2012). For example, in my first week as in intern, I have found that I could not provide administrative support to the marketing team. This is because of the technical knowledge and the experience needed for the administrative position. However, I was able to learn a bit of the administrative such as establishing project databases, preparation of the company marketing materials as well as data entry. This exposed me to the basic principles of the marketing. In addition to administration, I have also been able to undergo training in research whereby I gain a bit of knowledge on how to collect, research and analyze data. Alternatively, I was given an opportunity to explore my creativity whereby I was supposed to assist the marketing team in the creation of advertisement projects. As noted by Baehr (2016) interns should engage in extensive communication and networking to build th eir experience. Again, within a scope of one week have been able to gain a bit of experience in public relations because of frequent face-to-face communication with clients during charity events. Bailey, Baines, Wilson, Clark (2009) noted that crucial goal of a marketer is to attract a new pool of customers as well as maintaining the existing ones. To achieve this task successfully and effectively, the marketer has to be endowed with essential skills and knowledge needed for marketing. In a period of one week as a marketing intern, I have learned several aspects and concepts that good company marketers can apply to get a large number of customers. For example, I have learned that Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is very effective in availing the company products to the potential customers. This is because it because SEO can be included in the most of the blog articles found on the web. Despite that SEO is the lowest rated, it the one of the easiest marketing tool to drive traffic. In my internship, I have learned that SEO helped my organization to acquire more customers. Again, I learned that SEO had lowered the cost of advertising company products. In addition to SEO, a mar keter can use other strategies such as acquiring partnerships, using the press to write about the company product and ensuring the company is offering right service or product. Besides, the marketing strategies the marketer also need to be the center of the marketing. The marketer can achieve this by having effective communication with the clients as well as establishing and maintaining networks and relations with appropriate marketing channels. Conclusion Marketing is a critical aspect of any organization either dealing with tangible or intangible products. This is because it is through marketing the company gets to realize revenue. Bearing in mind the primary objective of any organization is profit thus the marketing aspect becomes one of the important tasks for the company. Therefore, this calls for the students undertaking a marketing degree program to engage in internships to gain the essential experience and skills needed in marketing. The Fetter Pillow Essay Hocus pocus in a dark castle, black cats over the graveyards, and two men writing gothic literature. Characteristics of gothic literature include ruined sinister buildings, dungeons, underground passages, crypts, and catacombs which in modern houses become spooky basements or attics. In A Rose for Emily by William Faulkner and The Feather Pillow by Horacio Quiroga, the authors use spooky setting, fantastic plot, grotesque characters and use of the supernatural as elements of gothic iteratrure. Faulkner and Quiroga use setting as an element of Gothic Literature to foreshadow that somethings will happen because the setting is mysterious. This is seen in A Rose for Emily when Faulkner describes the house that was once beautiful but now is decaying, falling down, old, and huge. One example of this sad story is when it says, It was a big, squarish frame house that had once been white, only miss Emilys house was left lifting its stubborn coquettish decay above the cotton wagons and the gasoline Faulkner 218). A setting like the houses on both Faulkner and Quirogas story, an make it mysterious and unpredictable of what is going to happen. Faulkner and Quiroga use mystery as an element of Gothic Literature to get the readers attention and create suspense. This is seen in A Rose for Emily when Faulkner describes that Homer disappeared, and no one ever saw him again and Emily was lonely seen. For example in the story said A neighbor saw the Negro man admit him at the kitchen door at dusk one evening. And that was the last we saw of Homer Barron. (Faulkner). This quote from the story causes mystery not only for the people but for the reader. Its scary because we do not know what happened with Homer until the end. In this quote the author leave us in suspense and mystery of what is going on with Alicia. This creates that we start to speculate and have horrifying ideas. The two Gothic stories creates a suspenseful mood with the mystery is going on the stories. Also both stories talk about how women are suffering because t a man. Faulkner and Quiroga use women in distress as an element of Gothic Literature to explain how women can lose their mind or die because a man. This is seen in A Rose for Emily when Faulkner describes that Emily slept with the death body of Homer for about 40 years and. Faulkner tell us in his story that The body had apparently once lain in the attitude of an embrace, but now the long sleep that outlasts love, that conquers even the grimace of love, had cuckolded him. What was left of him, rotted beneath what was left of the nightshirt, had become inextricable rom the bed in which he lay; and upon him and upon the pillow beside him lay that even coating of the patient and biding dust. (Faulkner). This is an example of a Gothic element being used because Emily had suffered of her fathers dead, so when she met Homer she killed him, so he could never leave her. She never dated any one before because her father did not let her. So when she met Homer she got to attached to him that she did not Homer leave her. That is the reason Emily killed Homer. The use of this element is also seen in The Feather Pillow when Quiroga escribes how Jordan never shows her feelings towards Alicia, so this made her go in depression. In the story it said He for his part, loved her profoundly but never let it seen. (Quiroga). Alicia compared herself to the sleeping beauty who could only be wake up with a kiss from her prince; and Alicia felt dead from inside because Jordan was cold and it seemed as if he did not care for Alicia. This quote make us think she was dying because of depression. Women in distress can do crazy things because of a man. They will kill or get sick because of them. Also in their stories they use rotesque as an element. Faulkner and Quiroga use grotesque as an element of Gothic Literature to give us an idea of the images of the story and to grabs the readers attention. This is seen in A Rose for Emily when Faulkner describes how Emily slept with Homers dead body for 40 years and how their pillows were yellow and moldy. The author tell us that in the story where it says The man himself lay in the bed upon him and upon the pillow beside him lay that even coating of the patient and biding dust. Then we noticed that in the second pillow was the indentation of a head. One of us lifted something from it, and leaning forward, that faint and invisible dust dry and acrid in the nostrils, we saw a long strand of iron- gray hair. (Faulkner). This shows how the quote is an example of a Gothic literature because it grabs the readers attention. It also gets the reader in a gross mood. Also it get the readers to get an idea. The use of this element is also seen in The Feather Pillow when Quiroga describes how the creature was sucking Alicias blood and how he creature grew fat. This is when it said Jordan picked it up; it was extraordinarily eavy The top feathers floated away, and the servant, her mouth opened wide, gave a scream of horror and covered her face with clenched fists: in the bottom of the pillow case, among the feathers, slowly moving its hairy legs, was a monstrous animal, a living, viscous ball. (Quiroga). This is an example of a Gothic literature mood and the story becomes more suspenseful. The two Gothic stories use a grotesque mood. Gothic Literatures used a lot of this elements in their stories, this creates fear and terror to the readers. The authors from A Rose for Emily and The Feather Pillow used elements of Gothic literature to bring suspense to the reader. the authors used setting, mystery, women in distress, and grotesque as Gothic Elements in order to create terror and suspense in their stories. These Gothic elements are important because they make the reader want to read more and be interested and also it helps us foreshadow what is going to happen and have an image of how everything is exactly happening. We can use these Gothic elements in society today when people kill other and things like that.

Every guy wants that girl! † With fury I turned around and saw a chubby boy and told him â€Å"What makes you think I won’t get her† and with confidence he said she only goes out with athletic people, making me sound like I’m not athletic. I needed to at least try to get her and to show the boy ‘Brendan† that I am athletic and could get her. But the truth was that I actually wasn’t that athletic. I was always the geek that stayed behind the computer playing games instead of going outside and playing sports. Instead of arguing with Brendan I decide to actually get to be friends with him since I didn’t know anyone else. First and second class passed by and now was lunch time. Brendan and I made our way through the halls to the cafeteria. We both got our lunch and made our way to a table where we could eat. While we ate he told me that the wrestling try outs would be today and that we should both try out since Alex will be there watching. I decide to give it a go since she was there, and maybe wrestling will the sport I’m good at. I was actually eager to try out because I could probably show off some moves and get Alex attracted to me. For the last two blocks we didn’t really do much; we had both classes as science and all we did was read the safety rules for using the stuff in class. The bell rang and Brendan and I made our way to the gym. We got changed into our shorts and out on some equipment that the coach gave to us. We made our way into the gym; all the people trying out were big and muscular. I took a quick glance at the bleachers and saw Alex setting down with some other girl from our class. I knew I had to shine or it would go all bad. The coach put us into pairs with the same size for opponents. My bad luck struck because I was paired up with this girl that had tried out; I and she were the smallest and shortest people there so that’s why we probably got paired up together. The bad thing was that the coach actually wanted us to wrestle each other and I didn’t really want to hurt a girl. We were the last ones to wrestle, so we both made our way to the matt and as soon as the coach said go, that girl attacked me and took me right down to the floor. Brendan helped me up and all I heard and saw was everyone laughing at me including Alex. I was pretty embarrassed. We all went back to the locker room to change back to leave. Everyone was making fun of me so I got myself out of there as soon as possible. I put on my jacket and opened the door to start walking back home. Instead of taking the shortcut I took the actual way through the street. As I was walking down the street across the school I saw Alex standing outside of the bank line with her mom. I thought the best thing to do was to change my way but instead I decided to be a man and pass her. I was around a foot away for her and suddenly a group of man came outside of the bank. They all had black masks with some sort of sweater saying ‘BAD BOYS† on it with each of them wearing baggy ripped jeans. I guess they were robbing the bank or something because one the guys started to terrorise the people outside including me to not call the police. Then one of the guys opened some shots from his pistol in to the crowd and the only thing that popped into my mind was to jump in front of Alex to save her from a bullet; maybe instead of liking an athletic person she could like a hero that saved her life. I wasn’t really expecting the bullet to come her way but my bad luck it actually was going to hit her, so I lurched my self in front of her and got hit by the bullet. I was expecting my self to be in wounded by the bullet but instead I found my self in the hospital lying on the bed with my brother and mom beside me on the bed. I didn’t know exactly what was happening and exactly why I wasn’t dead or anything from the bullet. I asked my mom sitting beside me if they took the bullet out of me but she was more confused then ever before. So I asked her why I was in the hospital and she told me, when me and my brother took the shortcut in the morning on the way to school I fell down and hit my head on sharp piece of ice which got me unconscious. So all that just had happened to me was all a dream I guess. I’m just happy that all I went through in my dream wasn’t real because I would never want that to happen to me. And the best thing of all was that I got to miss the first day of school!
